Living A Life of Faith With a Passion for God
In this month's video Matt Summerfield unpacks a learning from the story of the King of Samaria in 2 Kings.
Why not watch this video with your co-leaders this month and then spend some time chewing over the following questions:
- In the video Matt spoke about how “insincerity dressed up as humility kills faith – it damages our relationship with God” (2 Kings 6:24- 31: King of Samaria ‘pretends to repent’ to earn God’s favour, whilst in reality he is trying to maintain his reputation). Are there areas of your life where you need to exercise greater humility? A greater level of dependence on God?
- Look at 2 Chronicles 20 where King Jehoshaphat is feeling the pressure of war from the Moabites and Ammonites. How is his response different to the King of Samaria (note verse 12)? Are there any things happening in your life at the moment where you need to pray the same prayer of Jehoshaphat?
- God wants to be our consuming passion – the priority of our lives. What does it mean for you to personally act upon the commands of Micah 6:8, Mark 12:30-31, Philippians 3:10, 1 Peter 5:6?
- What goals can you set for yourself this year to know God better, and become more like Christ - recognising that this is your most important task?
- Why is all this important to your youth and children’s ministry? Because the more of God you know and experience for yourself, the more you will have to share with the children and young people you reach!
