A Life of Hope

In this month's brief sound-bite, Matt Summerfield looks at the challenge of bringing hope to children and young people who are facing very difficult times.

Why not watch this video with your co-leaders this month and then spend some time chewing over the following questions:

  • Read Proverbs 13:12, 1 Thessalonians 1:3 and Hebrews 6:19 and reflect together on what the Bible has to say about the importance of hope?
  • Why is it sometimes difficult though to live out the command in Psalm 43:5?
  • Read Isaiah 40:27-31. Why not take some time to encourage each other with stories of how you have personally experienced what Isaiah is writing about?
  • Where do the children and young people you are working with need hope? How can you be ‘present’ with them in their troubles?
  • Why not close by taking some time to close your eyes and meditate on the words of Psalm 62:5 “Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him”

Are you aware that we have a team of great communicators who love to get out and about speaking in churches?

If you’d be interested in having a guest speaker come to speak in your church in 2010, or beyond, then don’t hesitate to get in contact with Virginia Boakes on vboakes@urbansaints.org. All we ask is that we have the opportunity to share for three minutes about the work of Urban Saints, encouraging people to connect with us through volunteering, praying and supporting.
