A new version of Energize is launching on Tuesday 2nd April.
The Energize Team have compiled some 'Frequently Asked Questions' that you may find useful when preparing for this upcoming change:
Q. What is changing on Energize?
The first phase of the launch in April 2019 will include:
- New and improved search functions - including home page search, session search and Bible verse search. The new search function will even work if you accidentally mistype what you are looking for.
- A new grab-and-drop session builder
- One-click presentations - download all the activity title slides and visuals in your session into PowerPoint or Google Slides
- Bullet point session summaries - so you can present from a set of notes rather than the full session script
- Presenter Mode - improved functionality to allow to flip between bullet points or full item text as you deliver your sessions
- Printable sessions that use less ink and paper
- Improved video content - making it easier to find and view videos
- The option to edit passwords for your team (rather than having to contact the Energize team)
- The option to resend a pending invitation to your new team member
The second phase of the launch in May 2019 will include:
- Group and session profiling - allowing to set up and filter sessions according to your session length, group size, faith level or venue size
- Improved takeaway options to share follow-up items with your group after the session
- Combining age groups - a way for those working across a number of Energize age groups to bring together suitable items on any theme in one click
- Recommended session - a quicker way of creating a great session
- Tips and training - useful hints from the Energize team on finding your way around the site and presenting your sessions
Q. Why is Energize changing?
We wrote to our subscribers in April 2018 asking how we could improve Energize. We received many suggestions and the new version of Energize will provide the most common features you asked for. We have also modernised and refreshed the website, including the introduction of a brand new logo.
Q. Will I be able to use Energize on LAUNCH DAY?
In order for us to complete final testing and complete the switch-over Energize will be unavailable from around 9.00am to after lunchtime. During this time we will post update reports on the Energize Users Forum on Facebook.
Q. Will I need a different log-in?
Your log-in details will remain the same.
Q. Will I still be able to access my saved and shared plans?
All the plans that you have saved on Energize will be transferred to the new site. If you have sent URL links to your team these will still work for the new site.
Q. What do I need to do to prepare?
The main thing is to prepare yourself for things to look a little different. If you are going to be planning a session on or after Tuesday 2nd April, maybe set aside a little extra time to familiarise yourself with the new screens, or you could even prepare the session before the changes take place.

The new Energize uses the latest technology to help you with your young people. Everything should work well if your computer, tablet or mobile phone’s operating system is at least Windows 7 for Microsoft, or at least OS9 for Apple, or at least Android 6 for Samsung, Huawei or similar.
Q: How do I know what operating system VERSION I am using?
You can check your operating system and browser by selecting:
- On Apple phones and iPads: Settings - General – ‘About’ or ‘Software Update’
- On Android phones and tablets: Settings – ‘About Phone’ or ‘About Tablet’ – Android Version
- On Apple Macs and MacBook computers: Apple - About this Mac – MacOS version
- Other Laptop and Desktop computers: Settings – System – About (this gives the version of the operating system)
- Other Laptop and Desktop computers: Settings (sometimes a Cog or in “…” on the top right of the screen) – About
Q. Is there anything else I need to be aware of when first using the new Energize website?
- When using the 'Drag and drop' feature within the Session Builder, hold the item where you want it to go and wait until the 'gap' appears.
- On an iPad, you sometimes have to press and hold on an item for up to 2 seconds until it is selected.
- Clicking the 'eye' symbol does the same as 'View item'.
- 'Restore' in Session Builder allows you to restore items that you have removed from the original session. Select and add back the items you wish to restore.
