Modern slavery and human trafficking is prevalent in every UK town and city, the National Crime Agency has stated. The agency revealed that there are 300 live policing operations in the UK currently, with many thousands of victims. A previous estimate of 10,000 victims is just “the tip of the iceberg”, according to experts. This is a worrying development that demonstrates that modern slavery is far more common than people previously believed. The number of children being trafficked has increased by 30% in 2017, which is of particular concern.
