WHAT’S THE STORY

On 14th August 2016, during the Olympic games in Rio, American swimmer Ryan Lochte and three of his friends, swimmers Gunnar Bentz, Jack Coger and James Feigen, claimed that they had been robbed at gun point when the taxi they were using to return from a nightclub was forced to pull over by armed men.  Police investigating this claim soon discovered inconsistences in the athletes’ stories and prevented Bentz, Coger and Feigen leaving the country (Lochte had already returned home).  Within 48 hours of their original claim, CCTV footage emerged...
