Perhaps because food is such an integral part of Messy Church, the story of the feeding of the five thousand (Luke 9:10–17) makes a good starting point for reflection on what we’re trying to do—and I think it’s quite revealing. What sort of gathering are we in Messy Church? A full-blown church of rock-solid disciples or something different? Something… messier?
